Containment Boom

MPC Containment fabricates Containment Boom custom to your specifications; however, we also offer a complete series of boom fabricated to accepted industry specifications.  Our Deflector Series Boom consists of a top cable pocket welded into the fabric, a freeboard closed cell foam float, a skirt of tough vinyl coated polyester, and a welded chain pocket with a chain ballast weight.  The top and bottom tension members (cable on top and chain on bottom) will hold the boom together even if the fabric is damaged.


MPC Containment offers three Deflector Booms to meet your requirements:

  • Deflector Series A Containment Boom is an economical product that meets USCG specifications for inland and close-to-shore applications. 
  • Deflector Series B Boom is more durable and meets the requirements of USCG, ASTM, and BP. 
  • Deflector Series C Boom, with stronger cables, fabrics and more, exceeds ASTM, USCG, and BP specifications and is used in the toughest open ocean environments.

B SERIES
The B Series Deflector boom is BP approved for use in inland and ocean environments. It’s shorter skirt reduces drag in swift currents and can be customized depending on need. It’s lightweight and reliable construction makes it ideal for shoreline and protected coastal protection. It is an inexpensive boom, yet it features a high buoyancy reserve provided by stable closed cell foam log.

A & C SERIES
The A and C Series Deflector booms are specifically crafted for use in channels and open ocean. They feature larger freeboards with wider and deeper foam core to keep substances such as oil from spilling over the top, and longer skirts to contain substances below the surface. Meeting SEA 3 classification, this boom is the best option for containment on the open ocean.
