Floating covers are recommended—or in many cases legislated—for drinking
water reservoirs to protect the water from being contaminated by
rainwater, dirt, bird droppings, dead animals, leaves, and acts
of vandalism. At the same time, the covers protect the contents
from sunlight, which promotes growth of algae and other unwanted
organisms, and prevents evaporation. MPC has designed,
fabricated and installed floating reservoir covers in numerous
locations in the United States. International applications
include India, Israel, France and Kwajelain.
