Material flexibility and dimensional
stability are key when containing a valve, pipe connection,
or any other odd-shaped component or area. PetroGard
reinforced flexible membranes are produced by coating
a lightweight, dimensionally stable, tear and puncture
resistant nylon or polyester base cloth with a polymer
formulated to match the requirements of the application.
Adding more base fabric greatly increases strength with
a minimal increase in weight and virtually no stiffening
effect. Extruded film materials, on the other hand,
derive their physical properties only from thickness,
and adding thickness reduces flexibility. This makes
fabrication to complex shapes impractical. With PetroGard,
such shapes can be consistently fabricated in the field
or at our factory, minimizing costly downtime on your
site while achieving SPCC containment.
